This book was never published. We wrote and designed it as a part of our showcase in attempt to get a book design commission. Also, we just had such strong urge to create books and games that we would design them no matter if we were paid or not (we didn’t get paid for any our web games, but we invested months of work in them, anyway).

We made this book just after creating “Japanese Tales”. The backstory is identical. We wanted to make books and Aleksandra have already made a huge research on folk tales from different cultures, so we just needed to choose a few of them, rewrite them adding a little bit of humour and adapt them to fit a picture book.

We selected three stories: one about the malicious king hippopotamus, second about a cowardly and stupid leopard, and third about a jackal who tried to steal water.

The illustrations were drawn using a fin marker with solid (flat) colours added in Photoshop. Since then we’ve used this technique in most of our books.
