This book was never published. Its Daniel’s graduation project designed at Maciej Buszewicz’s Book Design Studio at Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
Stanisław Lem was a Polish science fiction writer, philosopher, and satirist. Up till now, he is the most translated Polish author and over 45 million copies of his books were sold. He is also one of Daniel’s favourite writers.
The book contains 12 fables set in a universe inhabited by mechanical beings, god-like constructors and fearsome creatures built out of water. Each fable was designed in a different manner, so on one hand, the design of the book resonate with richness of the world created by Lem, but on the other hand, it was a great testing ground for finding new styles and solutions.
In hindsight, using OCR as a body font was a terrible mistake, but having an opportunity to make mistakes without any consequences was the most valuable part of academic experience.
